SiteSphere started because Australian electrical contractors don't have software that respects how they actually pay people. The Modern Award is a floor, the EBA is the contract, and every clause is load-bearing — but the timesheet apps on the market treat "overtime" as a single multiplier and "allowance" as a fixed dollar amount. The reality is messier, and the messiness is in the detail.
We launched alongside T1 Electrical Solutions, a Melbourne electrical contractor running the ETU EBA 2025-2029. T1 didn't just sponsor the build — every clause in their EBA is implemented end-to-end in our pay engine, and the first version of the product was tested on their real crew sheets, real timesheets, and real Xero pay runs.
We believe a good payroll system is one where every dollar a worker is paid traces back to a clause they can read. We ship a calculation trail on every timesheet line — not because compliance asks for it, but because that's how payroll should work.
What we believe
- The EBA is the spec, not a configuration. Award packages, parts, and clauses are first-class data models — not toggles in a settings page. Bake the clause references into the engine.
- Mobile is for the field. Web is for the office. Workers and supervisors do their job on a phone in the rain. Admins reconcile pay runs at a desk. Don't blur those two surfaces — design for the role, not the user.
- Every dollar should trace to a clause. If a worker can't see why they were paid what they were paid, you have a payroll dispute waiting to happen. The trail is the product.
- Multi-tenant from day one. Row-level security, business-scoped data, separate award packages. Your data is yours.
